Art of Being Creatures Church Invitation
October 30 - November 1, 2026
Canadian Mennonite University, Winnipeg, Manitoba
An Invitation to your congregation
In 2025 the regions of MC Canada named Young Adults as a ministry priority - I’m writing with an opportunity for your congregation to get behind this prioritization by offering hospitality, accompaniment and financial support to Young Adults from across Canada and the US attending The Art of Being Creatures: Peace, Climate and Advocacy from October 30-November 1. Here’s how:
Hospitality through hosting billets:
The event planning committee is looking for host homes - people who are willing to open their home to host 1 or more event participants. If you have an extra bedroom and would enjoy having someone stay in your home for a minimum of two nights (Friday Oct 30 and Saturday Oct 31), we would love to hear from you. Close proximity or easy transportation from your home to CMU would be an asset.
Please send a note to Sandy Plett at splett@mennonitechurch.ca if you are interested in hosting.
Accompaniment of the Young Adults of our binational faith family:
- We invite congregations to send a representative to this weekend event as "organizations" who are spending time and energy at the intersection of faith and climate. If you are interested in attending on behalf of your congregation, please reach out to Sandy Plett at splett@mennonitechurch.ca to find out how to register. The cost for organizations is $250 per person.
- We invite the public to join this event on Saturday Oct 31 for “The Art of Being Creatures; An evening of Ecological Storytelling.” - Marpeck Commons at CMU, 7-9pm. Admission is free. Guests Bob Haverluck and Kakeka Thundersky will lead our storytelling and worship evening. Join to be inspired alongside weekend event participants!
Financial Support:
A priority of the planning group has been to make this event free to attend for all Young Adults. Donations to support this effort are welcome: Send your donations to MC Canada Climate- with a memo: Art of Being Creatures.
Please consider how your congregation might support this incredible weekend of connecting, inspiring and weaving together those who are working at the intersection of Faith and Climate in our faith family.
