Sustainability at Rockway Mennonite Collegiate

At Gathering 2025, we’re not just celebrating the gifts of community, worship, and creativity—we’re also honouring our shared responsibility to care for creation. From energy to food, sustainability is woven into the fabric of this year’s event.

Rockway Mennonite Collegiate, our host for Gathering 2025, finished installing over 850 rooftop solar panels in November 2024, which provide 100% of the school’s electricity needs! More than just a clean energy project, this partnership with the Community Energy Development Co-operative represents Rockway’s ongoing investment in and contribution to the health and well-being of their community and our planet. Climate justice is never far from the minds of teachers and students alike, who have and continue to undertake numerous green initiatives such as tree planting, gardening, recycling drives, and more.

In addition, food service at the Gathering is led by Rockway’s in-house caterer, Cyndi Pugh, whose deep commitment to sustainability is evident in her work. Locally sourced from seasonal ingredients and made with the environment in mind at every step of the process, Cyndi’s meals are as ethical as they are delicious!
