IW Global Companion for December 2025- Guatemala

Semilla Latin American Anabaptist Seminary equips students for spiritual leadership in their local communities. It offers theological certificates that provide peace- and justice-oriented tools, enabling students to become agents of change in contexts often marked by violence and economic hardship. Most students study on scholarships funded through Semilla’s guesthouse, Casa Emaús, and its CASAS program, which provides language study, cultural immersion, and hospitality services to international visitors. Semilla shares these resources generously; for example, it covered nearly all educational expenses for the Brethren in Christ Church in Cuba, making theological education possible where it would otherwise have been unattainable.
In April 2025, Mennonite Church Canada formed a Witness Support Network to support Semilla through finance, hospitality, and prayer. MC Canada seeks both to uphold Semilla’s ongoing generosity to Latin American communities and to build a deeply reciprocal partnership with the seminary.
