Palestinian Children- Pray and Petition
In June, the United Nations Human Rights Commission released a detailed report on Israel’s targeting of children in the Palestinian territories (click here to access). The analysis has galvanized renewed efforts by children’s rights groups and humanitarian organizations to spread awareness, seek legal accountability for war crimes, and work to heal the trauma. Children are also the focus of the upcoming “World Week for Peace in Palestine and Israel” sponsored by the World Council of Churches (click here).
In July, PIN members worked with ecumenical colleagues in the Stand Up for Palestinian Children’s Rights (CSUPCR) to help launch parliamentary petition E-7580 to ask Canada to take a bolder stance against the violence. Click here for CSUPCR’s backgrounder for the petition, and then at the prompt , sign your name to the petition. We urge your continued prayers and political advocacy for the well-being and safety of Palestinian children. [read more]
Sign and promote Parliamentary Petition E-7580 here, which calls on Canada to impose sanctions on Israel because of its ongoing targeting of Palestinian children.
Pray. The following prayer request is shared with Mennonite congregations across Canada:
The ongoing devastation of Gaza reminds us to pray and work for healing and justice where the wars of adults have traumatized children and fed cycles of revenge and hate. Since October 7, 2023, some 21,000 children in Gaza have perished from Israeli bombs and snipers, and from blocked access to food and medical care. Tens of thousands of others have been injured. In the initial Palestinian militant attacks and Israeli response, some 50 Israeli children were also killed, and others kidnapped.
