Pray with Palestinian Christians

One of the commitments we made in the 2016 Resolution is to pray for God's peace in  the religious, political and social situations in which the Palestinian people live. To facilitate this, we often use the calls for prayer coming from our Christian Palestinian friends at Bethlehem Bible College and the Sabeel Ecumenical Liberation Theology Centre in Bethlehem and Jerusalem, respectively.  The following request comes from Sabeel's "Wave of Prayer" for January 16, 2023. (To subscribe to this weekly prayer bulletin, click here.)

B’Tselem, a prominent Israeli human rights organization, reported that the Israeli authorities have just given notice that a thousand residents of Masafer Yatta (an area of the West Bank, south of Hebron) will soon receive orders of forcible eviction from their homes. Their land has been designated as ‘Firing Zone 918’ and is a closed military zone. B’Tselem has written to the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court in the Hague to protest that this forcible transfer of protected persons in occupied territory constitutes a war crime.

  • Pray: Lord, we cry out to you for the residents of Masafer Yatta who face constant threats and ongoing violence from the Israeli authorities. We pray for urgent intervention from international organizations to allow them to remain living peaceably on their land. Lord, in your mercy… hear our prayer.
