Encounter: An Anabaptist Faith Formation Curriculum
Encuentro: Un Plan de Estudios de Formación de Fe Anabautista

Encounter is a dynamic curriculum where students encounter God, each other, and all of creation. It emphasizes holistic faith formation: not only putting on the mind of Christ (gaining knowledge) but also claiming the heart of Christ (enlarging our love) and following in the footsteps of Christ (putting our knowledge and love into action). Through Encounter students will know at a deep level that they are known, loved, and valued by God. Knowing God’s love and the transformational presence of the Spirit calls students to join with God in bringing healing and hope to the world.

Developed by classroom teachers, Encounter is a prekindergarten to Grade 12 Bible curriculum for Anabaptist/Christian faith formation. It grew out of requests from teachers in member schools of the Mennonite Schools Council. Following these requests, a survey of teachers affirmed that this curriculum should be focused on faith formation rooted in the Anabaptist/Christian stream of theology while also being warmly ecumenical.

Encuentro es un plan de estudios dinámico donde los estudiantes se encuentran con Dios, con los demás, y con toda la creación. Este enfatiza una formación integral de fe teniendo en cuenta, no solo, la mente de Cristo (obteniendo conocimiento), sino anhelando el corazón de Cristo (creciendo en amor) y siguiendo los pasos de Cristo (poniendo en práctica nuestro amor y conocimientos). A través de Encuentro, los estudiantes sentirán de manera profunda que son conocidos, amados y valorados por Dios. Conocer el amor de Dios y la presencia transformadora del Espíritu, es un llamado para los estudiantes a unirse con Dios para llevar sanidad y esperanza al mundo.
