Advent At-Home, Advenimiento en Casa: Year A, 2023/24

We think of Advent as a time of preparing for the birth of Jesus. But it’s also a time of waiting – something that’s challenging for us at any age! This year’s theme, developed for Leader magazine, encourages us to do the spiritual work of this season. To watch and wait, to discern, to “wonder and wander,” to ask questions, to live without instant gratification, to do the work of the present while anticipating the fulfillment of the future. And in all of this, we experience God’s illumination as we come closer and closer to the ultimate revelation of God incarnate, the infant Christ.

Pensamos en el Advenimiento como un tiempo de preparación para el nacimiento de Jesus. Pero también es un momento de espera, ¡algo que supone un desafío para nosotros a cualquier edad! El tema de este año, desarrollado para la Revista Líder, nos anima a realizar el trabajo espiritual de esta temporada. El observar y esperar, discernir, “asombrarse y deambular”, hacer preguntas, vivir sin gratificación instantánea, hacer el trabajo del presente mientras anticipamos el cumplimiento del futuro. Y en todo esto, experimentamos la iluminación de Dios a la medida que estamos cerca y mas cerca de la revelación suprema de Dios encarnado, el niño Jesus.
