Christine Kampen Robinson (left) is director of practicum and of the Centre for Career and Vocation at Canadian Mennonite University. She is interested in the linguistics of storytelling and helps students transition into their careers.

Christy Anderson (right) is CMU’s Indigenous engagement advisor and is completing her PhD in Indigenous Studies at the University of Saskatchewan. She is Anishinaabekwe and Mennonite and examines settler colonialism, racism and gender oppressions while affirming people’s experiences through storytelling.

Robinson and Anderson will speak at Amplify! giving voice to what we’ve seen and heard, July 31 to Aug 4. The event is an opportunity for youth ages 12-18 to gather in worship, spend time in nature, recharge their spirits and meet like-minded peers from across the country.

The four-day gathering will take place at Camp Valaqua, near Water Valley Alberta, with the event kicking off on Sunday evening, July 31. The early bird registration fee is $395 per person and will increase to $425 after April 1. Registration will take place online, and the go-live date will be announced in early 2022. Budget questions or concerns can be directed to the event coordinator Joani Neufeldt at youth@mennonitechurch.ca.

Regarding COVID-19, Amplify! will follow all Mennonite Church Canada policies regarding vaccination status, Alberta Health Service guidelines as well as Camp Valaqua’s policy and procedures for this event.
