Global Companions Update #4

Asia Anabaptist Mennonite Education Network Shares a Common Dream

November 2025 marked the second in-person meeting of the Asia Anabaptist Mennonite Education Network.  This group came together with online meetings sharing a common dream of an Asia-based resource hub for Anabaptist teaching.  Working groups were formed in 2024 at the first in-person meeting for curriculum development, website/platform, and facilitation of the network and meetings.  This last in-person meeting in Thailand drew in more groups from across Asia.  While the weather was intent on pouring blessings on us in the form of rain, participants worked together to move this initiative forward with a good working plan for 2026.

Your gifts will help to establish this network for ongoing service to the Asian church and for the development of resources for Asian diaspora congregations around the world.

Global Companions Update #3

Following Jesus in the Midst of Conflict

Even in the midst of civil war, Bible Missionary Church Mennonite continues to bear faithful witness through disciple-making, caring for the sick and wounded, and nurturing a deep commitment to the way of Jesus and nonviolence.  They have developed a Peace Theology Learning Guide for use in the congregations.  In this video, Pastor John shares how that commitment shapes the life of their congregations and inspires communities to choose peace, compassion, and hope in the face of violence.

Pastoring a Growing Network

After graduation from AMBS in 2005, Pastor Yin Hongtao returned to China and worked with North American Mennonites who were connecting with the Chinese church and working with an educational exchange program, Mennonite Partners in China.  When that program ended in 2020, Pastor Yin continued to bring together church leaders and congregations who were interested in Anabaptist teaching.  He sees himself as a conference pastor to this group of church leaders.  He travels to visit, encourage, train, and find ways to help strengthen Anabaptist teaching in Asia.  Pastor Yin also sees himself as a global Anabaptist, and as such cares about the church in all places.  He has some words for us to think about as Mennonites in Canada as he has observed and worked with us for than 20 years.
